Engine block colour opinions please

Here's the stock color. Blue but maybe with some black in it.

 

 

Pontiac blue is the substitute for the air cleaner not the block. It's too light.

 

My L18 in my '74 710 was silver and I saw a 620 once that had the same silver color. It really shows up the oil leaks.

I've seen silver on Japanese takeout engines. Makes me wonder if they were sourced from machinery or if different markets used different colors.

 

But yes, I have seen silver on L motors too. Silver that looked factory applied.

Thanks for all the input, and after much debate and discussion I've decided to go stock blue in the end...:D

 

This isn't mine, it's a friends, but I think it will contrast well with the Safari Gold engine bay after all and the colour code I understand is Fathom Blue/Deep River/ Dolphin 18C39 BS4800/5252
