720 transfer into 620

From memory which can be dangerous patrol diff is 4.11 i think some 720s were as well so may not be way off or fixed with tyres and wheels down the track maybe.  I might just do a speed speedhut gps speedo anyway. 

 

Price for both transfers..and 5 speed seems reasonable just need to get them 9hrs up the road now.

Confirmed 4.11

 

'83 and up 720 4X4 were also 4.11.

2wd '80 long bed standards and '81-'82 automatics were also 4.11

GPS speedos are not as cool as they seem. They drop signal a lot, leaving you without data.

Do they only measure horizontal speed? If elevation is not taken into account on grades it will read slow.

I figure the gps can be patchy no good in the tunnels etc either.

 

Wont be hard to drive based on rpm on the freeway and I'm sure will be able to nut it out.

There are in-line cable operated VSS to speedo signal converters. I think Dakota Digital makes them, and Speedhut and other brands (smiths) use them in their electronic speedo kits. Try APT instruments for info on that. Check that. Their website is no longer active. I may have helped them go out of business...

The later 71C use a digital or electronic speedometer sleeve and pinion that can be easily modified to fit a 71B transmission.

Spoke to my BIL and he has had custom shafts made or modified normal ones.  Uni and flange suppliers nearby so will be able to sort that side of things once its all in front of me.

Later? Like 1990s?

 

I assume it's a VSS for EFI, right? Or is it specifically for speedo signal?
