Vicsan619
I have a king cab 1985 720 and dont know much about it i would like to ask for my radiator if i want to upgrade what would you reccomend ? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Why? If running hot or overheating there are things other than the radiator that could be the problem. Otherwise don't fix what isn't broken. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Maybe prioritize. Some things are more deserving of a sooner up grade. 1 Quote Link to comment
Vicsan619
Your right any suggestion on what to start on first? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If you don't know when all the lubricants were changed last, start with them. Second owners don't always spend much as the truck gets older and needs attention, 3rd and 4th owners are even worse. GL-4 80w90 gear oil for the transmission or Dexron ATF if automatic GL-5 90w gear oil for the differential. I like a diesel oil that are still high in ZDDP (a zinc anti scuff additive) for the engine and almost any oil filter but fram. WIX or NAPA Gold are still good. Brake fluid should be flushed with new every 5? years. Check the pads and shoes for wear. Front suspension and steering ball joints worn? They will need greasing for sure. Front tires worn unevenly? may need an alignment certainly before buying new tires. Visually inspect the plugs and wires. If cap, rotor and wires look old.... they are. Set the ignition timing to 3 degrees. Adjust the valve lash to 0.012" on all Visually inspect all belts and hoses. Replace any hoses that are soft. Tey rot from the inside out so may not be obvious. Check that all lights work. Halogen headlights get dimmer with age. This should ensure that your truck is up to snuff, and is reliable. 2 Quote Link to comment
720_Jeff
That's a project list that will keep one busy for a while. On these trucks, the radiator overflow is often quite brittle, probably has holes in it. I'd probably replace that while doing 'The List' from datzenmike. You can use what you want, if you want to stick with something that looks original, then this. There are others, at various prices. Some in the US, some outside US. https://www.ebay.com/itm/123619963069?fits=Make%3ADatsun&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item1cc852f0bd:g:bo4AAOSwU65cUTEN&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAAA4Ca8MtsVqipoPOlWpkObfqY%2FzIW%2B5v2P8YBIxXSJCKVtYX2vZZnkZJce%2FfVb%2BM83n%2FbkPtKmkP9gndvAMAg4aVd44t5mIsTLKz%2BDgLoXdtO2aJWksD%2BIWavtlPq%2BcC9iXRNGod7hsdLxbZO7UDlKJhYwxnPzFBEJ3t2swFB%2BLaE%2BxuGxGC%2BK0UMJ%2BomMVa3oaej4WK7qpjVY7PVDTLeMHSqCUY2R9fMtOFdD4%2BeQBtMrOGJ4eQOjuSj%2BRgc79PcbH7FcPmF3j31g0zd4%2F5CpKLdxC%2B8dGfx2XTMjoe8sbeFw|tkp%3ABFBM_OTG54Rg 1 Quote Link to comment

bottomwatcher
Look in your radiator. Look rusty or the cooling tubes have stuff "growing" around the tubes pull it and let it soak with clr. A clean radiater is an upgrade 2 Quote Link to comment
