RevinD
Hey guys, I had gotten a 720 4x4 kc for free from a buddy and was wondering on what to do. It currently has a z24 engine in it that needs some work. It has been sitting for about 10 years on a farm. Do I stick to reviving the z24 or should I swap something like a ka into it? I’m about an hour and a half away from it but I’ll try to get some pictures. From what I remember it was in rougher shape with the carb off and a new one sitting in his garage. Quote Link to comment
Madkaw
Motor swaps are difficult in 4x4’s because of oil pan conflicts with front diff . Lots of info here on that . The NapZ is a good motor but has its faults to . Quote Link to comment
DuallyDatsun
If you can just get the NapZ24 working. (I recommend just getting a new weber carb for it) That would be your best option. Lots of people try 4x4 swaps and never finish because of fitment issues. Plus, the NapZ engine will move a KC around plenty enough to not be an issue. If you're worried about the engine sitting with the carb off, just pour a couple tablespoons of marvel mystery oil into the cylinders and let it sit for a week. Then do your regular maintenance like new plugs, wires, oil change, etc... throw on a weber carb, and I'd be shocked if it doesn't fire right up. Quote Link to comment
ShutterMeShort
As previously stated, the 4x4 models are notoriously hard to swap. I do believe if you find a 4x4 Frontier with a KA, it is the easiest. There are several threads about KA swaps in here - peak around a bit! Quote Link to comment
