Oh so you're in California. Should put that and the year 720 in your profile. Actually you could run 5 degrees for better performance and running. 3 is unnecessarily low and is merely a California mandated requirement. Set it back to 3 for any emissions testing.

truck starts easily and drives very smooth

with quicker acceleration pick up

and better gas mileage than before.

With both coils working set timing to 5 degrees before TDC at idle. If timing IS at 5 degrees then you should really notice the difference when driving.

 

With one coil, the burn time is lengthened, in effect the dual plug timing will be retarded and lack efficiency, performance and mileage. Bringing the second plug 'on line' will restore this.
