Engine rebuild, L18 pistons in an L16?

I mentioned needing two cc plates. Usually the second plate with the ring molded to it is for pop-up pistons or for cylinder heads where the valve edges protrude from the flat surfaces slightly. If using dished or flat pistons that sit below the deck of the block, a flat plate is fine. Many Datsun pistons sit just about .010" out of the deck though, so beware of that.

Speaking of odd engines, I'm building an AMC 360 for my new to me 1977 Jeep Cherokee. Not really odd, but just odd enough that the parts supply is limited.

As far as L and Z series, only the L16 and the Z22E (200sx) engines have pistons that extend above the deck.

I believe the earliest KA24E's had a slight pop up dome.
