$300 about the going rate with new?

I may have a line on a used one off a parts rig.

Yes that is the going rate for new. O'Reilly's ones have a 100% fail rate some fail out of box, some last a week do not use the O'Reilly's ones

ICM installed. Much improved. Miss was noticably better but still there. Adjusted timing back to 3 degrees btdc. Much smoother and waiting to see if the fuel mileage is better. Easy starting from cold.

I'm going to inspect the cam alignment to verify everything is where it should be.

Thank you again for the help!

Next ...

Low compression: when should I consider rebuild? Since my compression is low (120x4)

Transmission: has a 4sp, want the 5sp

Transfer case: Howls pretty bad. No leaks, changed fluid again after about 5k and it's perfect. Bearings? I rebuilt the rear end and replaced all u-joints from the t case back.

Clutch brand recommendations? Will replace if I rebuild the engine.

I'll pick away at these in the forum. Thank you once again

'83s only came with a 5 speed so it must have been changed. If living in town and rarely on the highway a five speed isn't really much use to you.

120 is a bit low but as long as not excessively using oil and the numbers are within 10% of each other you can put off rebuilding for now but I would start collecting the rebuild parts now.
