74 260z distributor on wrong ??

man I just fix the ballast if that is the proplem and your done. Its simpler and cheaper  why make this harder

 

its only a ballast resisitor if its bad.

 

You never even told us if you checked this out then you going to try soemthing you havent done. with a new dist and we got to do 10 more pages on how to do this.

AS MIKE SAID TO MAKE THIS NEW DIST WORK CORRECTLY YOU NEED TO GET A NEWER LOW OHM COIL THAT MADE TO RUN ON A STRAIGHT 12/14VOLTS.  But to use the orginal coil it needs a ballast resisitor. so Im thinking just get a ballast resisitor and be done and save the other dist for later

i wanna get rid of the electronic box as well..   here are coil specs... will this coil be ok??

Primary resistance 7 ohms.... good to go! A stock coil from any '78 and up EI system would be just as good.

CASE CLOSED!!!!!    280zx matchbox dizzy solved all problems...car starts and runs..  for anyone with a 260z and no spark but power to coil.. get rid of electronic ignition unit, get rid of ballast and get rid of old dizzy..  all problems solved

You showed that there was no power to the coil. Only the ballast needed to be replaced. There was nothing wrong with your old distributor.
