Pez
HI Guys, hope to get some advice here. Been chasing an electrical issue which I have narrowed down. Ute has been constantly blowing fuses and it appears to be running fine whilst parked, it will idle fine, but once I release the hand brake/ think it's called Park brake in US the fuse blows. It is the regulator, meter fuse. I have changed alternator, regulator, changed all rear lights and played around looking for a short, but now believe that it is the hand brake which is blowing fuse. Would appreciate other experiences or advice. Thanks Braden Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There may be an electrical connection to a switch on the hand brake to light up the red brake light in the dash to warn the driver than the brake is on. But if this was shorted to ground only the red warning light would come on. Is this hand brake under the dash? You may have a bare wire under there that the brake handle touches in the off position. Pez
Thanks mate. I'll have another look under the dash. It is strange, I would of thought that the fuse would blow when the light is on, closed loop... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Power is on the dash side of the lamp. The hand brake switch (if there is one) provides the ground to turn the red light on. I have no idea what the Ute wiring diagram is like. The hand brake is likely rubbing a bare wire, grounding it and blowing a fuse. Quote Link to comment
