i just bought an older nissan forklift with a j15 motor has rod knocking ,looking for parts , bearings crank ect , whats avalible?

With luck only the bearing is bad. Next luckiest is just the bearing and crank and least luckiest is bearing, crank and rod needs replacing.

 

Well a J13 crank will work so (probably) the J13 rods will too. But you have to find one. As it is a lift truck likely Nissan still has them for rebuilds.

Not recommending, but there are lots to choose from out there. You will likely want to re-bore and go to an over size piston. A crankshaft can be turned down and an oversize rod bearing used if you can't find a J13/15 crankshaft.

Mexican, Central and South American 510s had J15s, I think but no vehicles in US came with them.

Once you tear down the engine and determine what you need, please post a list.  Some forum members has parts stashes or have resources that can help you.

I rebuilt my J13 with a combination of Nissan Forklift parts and BMC B-Series parts.

J15 is basically a j13 that has been bored out.. same size everything except piston size

Too bad you're not near Long Beach CA, there are several forklife rebuild faciities there.  I visited one looking for engine thermostat housings for my RL411.  No sucess but the foreman gave me several good suggestions.  Look in your neighborhood yellow pages for forklift repair ststions.  You may find one.

Try forklift salvage yards also. We got parts from a yard in Phoenix a couple years ago now.

They gave us a pallet full to choose from. Then took the pallet back to them with what we

didn't use.

I just finished rebuilding a J-15, also from a Nissan forklift. The #1 bearing was almost gone and the engine was leaking oil like crazy. I found most parts locally (Sacramento, CA), and a local shop repaired the crank. Now if I could only get it to fire. (A subject for another thread.)
