philip1
I'm trying to come up with a competitive Autocross car. Here in NC Datsuns are rare so I'm thinking about using a B12/13 sentra. My reasons are as follows: I can buy one for under $1000 running, they have a great engine GA16i/de 90/110hp, the suspension is the same as the famed SE-R, and they are pretty light. I think I can throw together a competitive rat-nissan on the cheap. Quote Link to comment
ratsar_nx
Sounds like a cool idea to me... I've had the idea/dream of building a sleeper Sentra, but no funds to do so. Some of the B12 Sentras came with the E16 in them... in stock form they'd be less competive (only ~70HP), but a weber and a better cam would probably help things. I've been looking at upgrades for the E16S engine since that's what I have in my Pulsar. ...Then again, since the B13 SE-R came with the SR20, you could probably find the SE-R engine mounts for a base model and put in an SR20DET  Quote Link to comment
Bleach
Is the G16 fairly close to the design of the CA engines? ...like the CA16DE? I had a 1988 Pulsar SE with the CA18DE and it was a peppy little engine that revved very high Quote Link to comment
dreamers_vault
why not U12 bluebird? they come with ca18det or sr20det Quote Link to comment
philip1
the Ga16 has a different bellhousing than the Ca series so that swap is out . If I go with the ga16de it makes good power and revs to 6500rpm. A header frees up a LOT of power. Even the Ga16i is a good engine starting at 90bhp adding a header helps this engine as well. I don't plan to go crazy with the engine but the suspension is a different matter............hehehe:cool: I'm thinking about a junkyard g20 suspension swap on a base model sentra MUHAHAHAHA Bluebirds are not available here (we got the performance shaft) Edited December 3, 2008 by philip1 Quote Link to comment
