Nissan 720 timing cover gasket

So awhile ago I did my timing cover gasket. Little did I know that on top of the timing cover where it mates to the head, there is supposed to be a piece of head gasket there. When I replaced it that piece was missing so I never cured the leak. This whole time I have been confused on why it was leaking. Who knew that the head gasket had a piece that goes onto the timing cover.... what’s the easiest way to do this procedure

 Timing cover is on?

Thoroughly de-grease the crack between the two. Then push a small bead of RTV into the crack. Most tubes of RTV come with a nozzle. Wipe away any excess. Don't over do it, just enough to fill the crack. It only has to seal in oil spray and fumes.
