520 Long Bed?

I was wondering if the 1966 520 ever came in long bed option, or any of the 520's in general? Sorry if it's a dumb question, just curious 🙂

I'm about 99% sure the answer is no.... I believe the first factory long bed  was the 620...

Not dumb. There are probably others who have wondered the same thing. The first long wheelbase standard cab was the '75 model year 620.

I've been trying to read up, and I know that Wiki isn't always right, but I do appreciate the help. I guess if anything this question will answer someone else's same question in the future👍

With work you could put your 521 cab on a long wheelbase frame 620 (regular or king cab) but you would have to extend the front of the 521 box forward about 10 inches or build a flatbed for it. I like flatbeds... easy to fix and don't rust out. I would recommend a '78 or '79 for the disc brakes and ball joint steering

Overseas there are long bed 521. Not sure about 520, but there certainly are long beds before the 620.

The 720 chassis are what Wayno uses for his 520/521s.  I put a 1980 720 chassis under my 66 520.  Not sure how the 620 chassis compares to the 720.

Regular beds have 4 hooks, long beds have 5.

Put my 620 cab on an '82.... fit just fine.

I have not seen any  Datsun/Nissan issued 1966 520 brochure, service manual, parts manual, owner's manual, or technical document which identifies, illustrates or depicts a long bed.  (Note, a long bed would have different parts, including tailpipe, bed side panels and electrical wiring to accommodate the increased length.

Not for North America. I think I've seen a double cab 521 in the mid east. But in the real world... they don't exist.

cabs would work but itis tghe back half of the frame where the bed mounts.  On my 80 720 chassis I cut the front 2 bed mounts off and lowered them.

Well I guess it turned out to be a good question. Lots of great info, and I never realized about the 4 bed hooks vs the 5.

Do not remember the country this truck is in, and it is a 521 not a 520, this person was an active member on here for a while.
