Nice job Skib.  The nice paint reflects all the nice body work you did.  Love the color, too.

Being that I did it for a living for about a decade I see so much that I kinda half assed it on body work.
Because its meant to just be a driver and not a show car lol and I never wanted to paint it in the first place...

... but if no one else sees what I see then I guess thats good 😂

Got some days off coming up so gotta try and get the driver door and hatch done so I can at least have the cabin sealed up again.

got some more work done.

Hadnt even started the driver door. had to shave the old rivet holes for the door ding strip and mirror holes.
got lucky and got it strait the first time so I only had to prime it once and it was ready to paint.

The paint looks pretty good for being sprayed outdoors.

Im used to a proper booth lol but for being shot in the dirt under gum trees its turned out not to shabby so far.

have avoided getting any shit in it, but shooting outside its still going to need a good cut and buff.

I had him at the body shop twice a week for like 7 years while I was there,

so naturally I had him come do the Z

He has done a few of my cars and has ~25 years of experience doing glass.

So he wasn't just any glass guy lol but I will say,

he puts the rubber on the glass and the trim in the rubber, then puts it all in.

Yeah, that's what everyone told me to do, but I wasted a whole day trying to do it that way. I finally just gave up and did it without the trim.

Datsun windows are pretty easy to do (minus the trim), so I haven't called out a glass guy in years. I started looking because there was one car I really wanted the trim put back in...  😁

Believe me when I say, it does not. Not matter how hard you try. 😋

I did my wagon windshield and hatch with the trim on first, actually.

I don't think you could ever get the corners of the trim to meet properly if the trim was installed after the glass was in the car.

Doesn't the trim go on after the glass and gasket are on??? The trim ads rigidity and without it the glass kind of flops in and out when you push on it. I think my 510 had the trim.

Trim on the Z is deff just for looks lol its paper thin stainless. Couldn't even add rigidity to a commies back bone lol

Spent a nice 70 deg (Thats 21 for you Canadians)  December day trimming the hood up for the Aerocatch hood latches.

Just the hood and spoiler left to shoot some color on,

so naturally soon as I finished, and planned to paint the next day...

... its been foggy, cold, and rainy since lol
