Stinky
At what level, in #PSI should my oil pressure light come on in my 86 720? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I think around 8psi. You can run an engine on 8 PSI but I wouldn't work it too hard. If you really want to know the exact pressure install a real gauge. On a hot engine, even a high mileage one with worn and wide clearances on the bearings 50-60 PSI is normal when revved up, certainly out on the highway. Idle is much different as less oil is pumped and it can easily 'bleed' past bearing faster than it can be pumped. My very worn L20B made 17 PSI at hot idle with a stock oil pump and 29 PSI with a KA oil pump. My present L20B makes 35 while turning with the starter, with a KA oil pump. 1 Quote Link to comment
