Negative Ghostrider
So after community input I went the extra mile to get an OSK timing parts kit instead of some generic ebay kit. I'm putting it in and the OSK cam sprocket doesn't have the location notches in it. WTH? How am I supposed to find the timing marks? The teeth on the new sprocket don't line up with the old one when I stack them using holes 1 and 3 as reference, either. So I can't use the old one to find the mark and then set the chain to the same number on the new one. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Put the old cam sprocket back in. It's not worn out yet. That's why there are extra adjustment holes. If you can get this when at TDC... ... that's all you need. Just like setting ignition timing, doesn't matter where the rotor or spindle is pointing, as long as you can set it at 120. . 1 Quote Link to comment

The old sprocket seems to have plenty of life left in it. No signs of real wear. Just seems a shame to not put the new one in but what a strange design choice. Quote Link to comment
Negative Ghostrider
I was able to put bolts through holes 1 and 3 and stack the sprockets back to back, instead of both facing up. The teeth lined up that way and I was able to mark the notches on the new cam with a sharpie. That should be work, right? Or should I just proceed with the new one? Quote Link to comment
