I have lots of 510 L16 dipsticks...............might be the same?  I have an original 1972 521 L16, but do not know if same as your 1973 620 L16...........??  That's three different L16 applications!  I was just reading another thread last night regarding the oil pans being different, so the dipsticks might match the oil pan, which might mean the dipsticks are NOT the same.............??

OEM # is 11140-B2001. You will have to use this as a reference as it is NLA from Nissan.

Maybe a classified ad here.

Kelmo can you cross reference the 1972 510 L16 & the 1972 521 L16 dip stick part #'s, to see if the same?

OIL DIPSTICK 510: 11140-21000,11140-21001, 11140-21002. THE "21002" IS THE LATEST # IN THE CHAIN.

520 L16 OIL DIPSTICK: 11140-B2000, 11140-B2001 THE "B2001 IS THE LATEST # IN THE CHAIN

620 L16 & L18 ARE THE SAME AS 520 LISTED ABOVE.

620 L20 OIL DIPSTICK: 11140-B8000.

THE LATEST # FOR THE "B8000" IS 11140-U6000.

ALL OF THESE #'S ARE NLA FROM NISSAN.

The catalog I have does not list 521 but does list 520 w/L16. The "B8000" shows to interchange with the "21001" & "21002".

The nutshell: 520/620 L16 & L18 appear to be the same. 510 & 620 w/L20 appear to be the same. Go figure out how that works.

Sometimes Nissan makes my head hurt.

The 520 above should be 521 all the 520s came with J13s, the 70 521 was the first L16 in the truck series.

To add to the confusion...

First year 521 was the '69 L521 and was the last year with the J13.

The second year of the 521 was the '70 PL521 and first year of the L16 in the trucks.

You are correct sir, although I have owned 2 69 521s that were L16s from the factory.

Yeah, 520/521 is really not my wheelhouse so am not too sure how to tell the difference. Also, the damn catalog only listed 520.

So there is that...😄

I was not trying to discredit your information your info is a great help here and you are correct in the fact that the newer parts manuals (computerized) have condensed the older trucks, 520s/521s so that it is difficultto tell what part is what truck. The 520s/521s shared many parts.

Somewhat....

I sell Hot Wheels to fund my trip to Williams every year...and some other Datsun stuff.

This thread has officially been jacked by Charlie69 and Kelmo.

OP hasn't been here since Thursday. See what happens around here when you leave stuff unattended.🤣

Holy Crap, you came back!

Usually we chase people off around here.

Someone once said on here that this is not really a Datsun forum...we're all just a bunch of assholes that happen to own Datsun's.

Glad you were able to find one, what was the source?

OK so for me it complicates, cuz I have a box of dipsticks...........only some are labeled like the 510 L16 (cuz that's what I started out with years ago!) & the L20B side stick (not the later front stick front sump).  I will try to correlate with KELMO's part # application list, will let you know what I come up with!

Usually close to the "handle" it will have the last 5 digits of the part #. Use that for correlation.

You probably knew that but just in case.

For instance: my 1200 with an "A" motor has "H1000" stamped into the upper part of the dipstick. Almost every Nissan dipstick does.

FYI my original 1972 521 L16 dipstick is exactly the same as my 510 L16 dipsticks.  I do not have any known 620 L16 dipsticks.  When I pull a part, I usually write the application on it or on a tag (I'm an old parts guy by trade, so comes naturally!).  I think the key is the fact that the L16 sumps are basically in the same "area" & I think all of the dipsticks were in the same spot...........the earliest change that I see is with the L20B & newer.  Thoughts?
