frankendat
I have searched the archives and found many responses, but a definitive answer was not forthcoming. What information, if any, can be gathered from the number stamped on the side of a Z24 engine block? (between the 2nd/3rd cylinders the number following the engine identification. In this case, the six digit number following "Z24") Thank you Quote Link to comment
Duncan
whoops! I didn't read your entire question. Carry on... Edited June 17, 2020 by Duncan Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It's just called the engine serial or production number, consisting of 6 digits. I don't think it's recorded anywhere else on the vehicle so that you can tell if the engine is original. This is the 1980s. Maybe on the original bill of sale??? Quote Link to comment

I was wondering if the six digit number referenced the build date of the engine. If I am understanding correctly, then the number is insignificant. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It means something to Nissan. Got to figure the engine was built before the truck. Perhaps many months earlier. The actual build month is on the FMVSS sticker on the driver's door jam. The VIN has a production number Quote Link to comment
