It's not like taxes and regulations will hit you like throwing a lobster into boiling water. It will start with cold water and turn up the heat. Lobster has time to get used to it. I assume there are checks and balances down there and the GOP will swing back into power.

I would say allowing these peaceful protests to spiral out of control(fire/looting) is like throwing a lobster in boiling water and in about 3 days that is what happened in Portland OR, and most these cities where this shit happened are Democrat controlled, it's like they told their police forces to let it happen.

All this happened because criminals did stupid things and paid with their lives, yes they were black but they were or are criminals(that last guy lived), it doesn't appear that the Democrat politicians care about them being criminals as the Democrat VP pick has visited one that survived and is proud of him for some reason(that is what the banner said on that link, I didn't watch it).

We the people do not really decide who runs for President most of the time, especially on the Democrat side, it appears that a small group of people do that for them these days, I have no idea how Trump got thru that process on the Republican side, no shenanigans took place on the Republican side like what did on the Democrat side in 2016 election so Trump won the Republican nomination, I expect that will never happen again on the Republican side either, the people will never likely pick their President again unless something is radically changed, you will be have to be one of them(a politician that can be bought) to run for President.

So to answer your question Mike, this is all we likely will ever have for a choice in the future unless something changes in this political system, yes this is the best we have to offer.

I'll agree the optics of my alternate illegal entry solution could be challenging 🙂 As far as an exception to land owner liability and enacting law that bars legal entry once convicted of illegal entry, those are both cost free options that would provide some deterrent. The homeowner exception would need to be narrowly construed. Something like, the owner of property abutting a national border, who resides on the land  and has taken significant actions to prohibit entry ("significant actions" would need to be defined). Destruction and disregard of impediments to force entry will be allowable as evidence of a disregard of the laws of the United States and intent to harm. (triggering the application of the doctrine of self-defense)

 

I get no one want to legitimize those "militia" bajaing around trying to citizens arrest anyone crossing an imaginary line in the desert.  But, if someone takes steps to fortify their  property (more than a chain link fence  and some "no trespassing" signs, where it takes determined effort to break through) that should be enough to demonstrate intent to harm.

Again some land owners might not even care/got better things to do. All it takes is one and you have a hole in the fence. You would get a better response posting a $200 bounty on every illegal shot. It's not going to work. It's like drugs you can't stop it, you have to remove the market. Remove the reason for wanting into the US.

There will be a reason to want to move to the US until the US is worse than the country left. Remember NAFTA was billed as a method to strengthen Mexico's economy and reduce illegal immigration and all that was accomplished was sacrificing  Lansing and Flint Michigan. The economy in Mexico did improve, I traveled to Mexico in the 80's and could live like a king for a day on about $100. Friends still travel to Mexico and Central America and, while there are good deals to be had. The peso is much stronger.

America, with it's fancy Statue of Liberty quote and low self esteem, has been allowing pretty much everybody to fuck her.
