"Dune" a great book, a shit movie, but soon there will another "Dune" movie and a chance to change into a "good" movie. Many will not know the old shit Dune and many more will have forgotten or died. The history of Dune will change and embrace a new narrative,which given Hollywood values, will include at least one jab at climate change, gender identity, and other progressive talking points. The old Dune was a shit movie and it is best to not remember or care about shit things of the past. I can't wait for a new progressive Dune to wash away the old Dune. History isn't important (except the terrible treatment of minorities and women by white men) and that is true for the whole world. Socialism and Communism are great, once the bloody, unsuccessful, attempts and subjugation  are forgotten. Can't wait. I wonder if the line for turning in your firearms will include castration, or will there be separate lines?

 I've read it I would guess about a dozen times since the early '70s. First try I made it 18 pages and threw it in the corner. I just couldn't absorb. Three months later, in a better mood and having paid $4??? (a huge amount then) I wasn't going to not read it. I went through it like shit through a goose. Each time I read it I would get a "aaAAHhh that makes sense now" little bits of memory making links to the current reading. It bears reading again and again.... and again. It never gets old. It's just too big for a movie even one that's 2-3 hours long.

Have you seen the version not by lynch?   It’s actually quite good.  6 hours long maybe?  Well done.  The book is great

 

edit:  John Harrison’s version.  6 hours.  Three parts.  Done better than lynch IMO.  And I actually like lynch in some of his works.

Trump supporters are fed up and want to be heard so they assault the capital.  And that doesn’t bother the exact same voices who won’t condone taking a knee at a football game.  Ya know, they weren’t being heard and they decided to take a knee to start a conversation.  It worked.  It was peaceful.  And the same people we saw yesterday had a shit fit like a teenage girl who couldn’t get noticed by her crush.  
 

I get it though.  I thought the 1% movement would turn into some shit like this too.  People need to be heard.  But the issue isn’t that they want to be heard.  They wanted their demands met.  And that demand was to stop democracy for all until they decided they were satisfied.  It was always a moving target.  They were given their recounts and recertifications.  But until something changed the outcome a new challenge was always the response.  An investigation will continue.  But it won’t stop the process.

Dune is a fantastic book with an unequalled story if a bit dry. I personally love Lynch's Dune, It is not for everyone though... My opinion could be questionable as I loathe Star Wars. If anyone is curious about a great cut of the full version of Lynch's Dune, do a Torrent search for "spicediver" or Dune: Alternative Edition Redux. It is a superb fan edit that was assembled with an unbelievable amount of work and has many kudos, in as much as any fan edit of a failed 80's space epic can!

Yes. Again, something that can't be watched in one sitting very well. Has to be a series, but not like a TV series that goes on and on and on. Something, even a dozen hours broken up.

I went and saw the original in the theater. I liked it because I knew all the story but this meant that when it was compressed or strayed from the book it was a jolt, as in the ending where it rained. Toto's soundtrack was.... ill fitting. Costumes were fantastic and many of the sets but the SFX were lame even 35 years ago. Kenneth McMillan as the baron was the best villain ever.

In your mind it raises doubt - but the "feds" aka the US government provided them access to their systems, and they didn't work with twitter - they used twitter users submissions to map - ah you know what it's not even worth explaining to you.
