I have the luxury of not having to live in fear having moved from an area of chaos to a more rural atmosphere. I came out here when I was 25 and fell in love with the area. Where I was from wasn't too chaotic yet but the signs were there. It wasn't planned as an escape, I always wanted to move back here and after 15 years had pushed this dream to the back of my mind... when the opportunity came up. Sold or gave away what we couldn't bring with us, bought a trailer, loaded the '79 Olds, packed three kids, dog and my wife and drove out. That was 33 years ago and every now and then I hear what it's like to live in Onterrible, I appreciate where I am. My parents did about the same to escape economic uncertainty in Britain after WW2. Only the sheltered and naive would need justification. DatzenMike, we have gone down this road. You have the "luxury" of ignorance because you live in a less populated area. If you moved into a area without population (Deep Canada) or returned to a populated area, then the necessity to protect yourself would become apparent. My parent moved from a high crime area to Idaho when I was just a boy. Idaho was "rural" when we arrived and our neighbors were surprised that we locked our house and that is just one example. Everyone locks their homes and their cars now. I am shocked often, by the things at the time I didn't understand were so amazing and so special, among those things is the absence of people. But, open boarders, over population and the competition for all things goes up, especially things of value. Since the beginning of time, when one man has something of value another man has tried to take it. You, like me, value or in my case valued, a quieter, simpler, lifestyle. But, other men valued what I had and took it and keep taking it and will do so until something or somewhere is valued more. All the guns in the world will not stop "progress" or those with more taking from those with less and I hope your little part of the world remains undiscovered for many years. As population increases crime increases, number dweebs can twist the figures, but it is a fact. If where you live had 1 murder in the last 10 years with a population of X and has two murders in the next 5 years when the population increased by X, more people = more crime. More people mean more competition for less resources. Now what if the thing not understood as so amazing was the ability to walk down your street without worry of being mugged, accosted, robbed, what if the trinkets and things you have collected in a lifetime are now valued to where other people want them. I hope you never find yourself in that space. I hope Datsuns and Nissans stay old and not "Collectible" and/or "Vintage" where part costs quadruple and they become a profitable theft target, but we both already see it. Just as I winced when the first house in my neighborhood was flipped for high dollar, I wince when sellers ask hundreds for parts I gave away, in time it will be thousands. It is neither weak nor paranoid to understand the nature of the world and realize that there may come a time when others try to take what you value, to include the value you place on your family and your life. I would argue that there is always that chance, but even you must admit that the chance increases with more people and there are more people coming everyday. Why would you be unprepared for the worst? Do you have a fire extinguisher in your house? Is it paranoid to have a fire extinguisher? Quote Link to comment

paradime
I think firing was mostly about profit considering that for viewers of broadcast tv (and/or aired on cable), the median age is 64.6. Obviously CBS knows who butters their bread, and Klmmel only got them Country Crock Light with an expired freshness date. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Duncan
I learned today that some of the local ABC affiliates had decided to not air Kimmel's show, and were replacing it based on his comments. The head of the FCC posted something to the effect of he was considering what to do when the approval of this media merger came through. While I do not like or agree with anything Kimmel says, I do defend his right to say it. I choose not to watch it. I find it disturbing that the govt basically threatened Disney to come after Kimmel in the name of Community Good or whatever standards they proclaim they uphold. I don't think that is ethical or moral. Where was all this outrage when they came after Roseanne Barr, or Gina Carrano? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Someone tell me what he said that was so wrong. Near as I can see it was about the shooter and MAGA and Kirk's name was used only to identify who he was talking about. Freedom of speech is threatened down there. I expect those cunts on The View will be next? Quote Link to comment

I expect those cunts on The View will be next? I personally didn't think it was that bad. I'm paraphrasing here, but he said the Maga people are going to extreme lengths to cover the shooter was a right wing Maga guy. This guy was a trans supporter, had a transitioning "girlfriend", and didn't like that Charlie wasn't too much into trans. That doesn't sound terribly right wing to me, but who the hell knows. I'm rather exhausted with the Jimmy Kimmel thing anyway. Poor Jimmy, he only his millions. How is he going to survive? The View is another one I avoid at all costs. I wonder if Jussie Smolette has been attacked by Maga supporters lately?? 3 1 Quote Link to comment
Roadster driver
What Kimmel said had little to do with why he has been dropped, his ratings are terrible and it was the excuse they felt would cover up the real issue, which is he is just tanking the ratings! Sometimes things are far simpler than they appear, his show sucked. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Then why not just drop him rather than have all this freedom of speech backlash????? Quote Link to comment
Roadster driver
Simple, they get to blame it on a situation and not the real problem. Look at Hollywood most of the movies that are being produced are tanking in the box office as well, because every movie has to have some kind of social statement that nobody wants to see. Entertainment means entertain the audience, simple thing I think, make it a joyful experience and people will come to see it. Quote Link to comment

I'm not a fan, but today the most profitable genre is horror films. The movie industry as a whole, it's revenue is projected to reach $86.10 billion in 2025. Personally, I enjoy a well told story firmly planted is reality, so a happy ending is not required. The dumbest non-reality is the hero figure shooting the bad guy, so it's problem solved. It feeds a simplistic fantasy of revenge with no investigation or legal repercussion and everything goes back to normal. Not even close to reality, so I have a hard time suspending disbelief for a joyful experience of such violence. Edited September 20 by paradime Quote Link to comment
paradime
The Swiss cheese story Kash Patel told about Kirk's assassin is not even close to believe it's real. This pile of shit doesn't add up, so I'm having a hard time suspending my disbelief to just sweep this killing under a rug. Did some digging and: 1.The story includes a vid of the shooter jumping off a roof waring a small backpack with no rifle visible. 2. The extraneously long text to his "trans furry liberal girlfriend" basically confessing to ALL the FBI's published evidence. Definitely not written in common gen Z parlence. See full text below. 3. Turning Point USE was an $80 mil nonprofit run by Kirk who paid no tax with no record of his BIG $ donors. A few months ago he came out agains US support for Israel's war, and publicly refused Netanyahu's offer of a large donation, and an invitation for a personal meeting. With his unfettered influence he posed a serious threat to the system of Western power, and their ability to control the message. 4. The independent research investigations of ALL the gaming, forum discussions. and social media posts from Robinson turned up a total of 2 references to Kirk. One expressed tepid admiration, and the other was neutral in reply to another comment. This leaves gaping holes in Kash's unbelievable Hollywood story. So here's a few things left hanging it the wind. 1. The shooter would have to break the rifle down and put it in his backpack before fleeing the scene, then reassemble it in the bushes (for no F'n reason), wrap it in a towel, scatter a bunch of engraved shells, change cloths, and hide. 2. Most suspicious that his text exchange gives an excruciatingly detailed confession wrapping it up in a hot pink bow for an easy conviction. 3. It was sent before info about the "crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing." Tyler wasn't part of this other guy's interrogation, so how did he know this before anyone else when the Info didn't come until the next day? 4. WTF is up with the media brain washers ignoring Kirk speaking out against US support for Israel, and asking who is motivated to close that down. It's not a question of L or R, but who benefits from our division. Tyler Robinson drop what you are doing, look under my keyboard. The roommate looked under the keyboard and found a note that stated, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.” Roommate What?????????????? You’re joking, right???? I am still ok my love, but am stuck in orem for a little while longer yet. Shouldn’t be long until I can come home, but I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you. you weren’t the one who did it right???? I am, I’m sorry I thought they caught the person? no, they grabbed some crazy old dude, then interrogated someone in similar clothing. I had planned to grab my rifle from my drop point shortly after, but most of that side of town got locked down. Its quiet, almost enough to get out, but theres one vehicle lingering. Why? Why did I do it? Yeah I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen, I will have left no evidence. Going to attempt to retrieve it again, hopefully they have moved on. I haven’t seen anything about them finding it. ... How long have you been planning this? a bit over a week I believe. I can get close to it but there is a squad car parked right by it. I think they already swept that spot, but I don’t wanna chance it ... I’m wishing I had circled back and grabbed it as soon as I got to my vehicle. … I’m worried what my old man would do if I didn’t bring back grandpas rifle … idek if it had a serial number, but it wouldn’t trace to me. I worry about prints I had to leave it in a bush where I changed outfits. didn’t have the ability or time to bring it with. … I might have to abandon it and hope they don’t find prints. how the fuck will I explain losing it to my old man. ... only thing I left was the rifle wrapped in a towel. ... remember how I was engraving bullets? The fuckin messages are mostly a big meme, if I see “notices bulge uwu” on fox new I might have a stroke alright im gonna have to leave it, that really fucking sucks. … judging from today I’d say grandpas gun does just fine idk. I think that was a $2k scope ;-; ... delete this exchange my dad wants photos of the rifle … he says grandpa wants to know who has what, the feds released a photo of the rifle, and it is very unique. Hes calling me rn, not answering. ... since trump got into office [my dad] has been pretty diehard maga. ... Im gonna turn myself in willingly, one of my neighbors here is a deputy for the sheriff. I don't care if you want to bury your head, and pretend you don't give a shit to protect the safety of ignorance. Or don't ask questions, and you can trust your government is telling the truth. paradime
21 hours ago, datzenmike said: Care to hazard a motive for killing Kirk other than the questionable stuff you posted by the assassin? I was in a rush to get out the door and left mistakes behind. So here's a correction that should make more sense. Sorry I don't have a crystal ball. My contribution is simple observations that raise valid questions. It's all published info direct from the FBI investigation, and Kirk's own words regarding Israel that are all documented in his group blog. Kirk was very influential in promoting traditional conservative values with modern ideology. In your opinion, given the suspected assassin's history and online foot print, who has a clearer motivation, and the means to pull it off? A nonvocal gamer kid with a week of planning to use grandpa's antique Mauser on a rooftop, or a group with a clear vested interest in maintaining their power structure, and the ability to deploy professionals with months of planing to frame a patsy and cover it up? Have you ever heard of one guy getting capital punishment for shooting another guy? Yet on this one, the prosecution is going for the death penalty. WTF is that about? They didn't do that for RFK, MLK, or Medgar Evers, so who benefits from shutting Tyler up? So it's fly Kirk's body home on Air Farce 2, honor him with the Presidential Metal of Freedom, and that's mission accomplished? According to Kash's timeline taken from vid, and multiple eye witness accounts, Tyler would have to assemble the Mauser on the roof, shoot the victim, then change clothes, disassemble the gun, and put it in a small backpack in 6 seconds. And this alternate reality is supposed to be believable? For the sleepwalking masses it sure did. Edited September 21 by paradime Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Ahhh the cabinet of enablers. I previously just called them 'yes men'. If Trump drops dead that asshole Vance steps in and there is no one to help run things. Man this is so fucked up. As more and more revelations about Trump surface and as time goes by and people (MAGAs) filter this and eventually come to the inevitable conclusion, we're never going to find Waldo.
