Being Canadian hampers my understanding and enjoyment of this. Can someone explain this somewhat irreverent appearing post?

Here in Denver, a homosexual couple asked a Christian baker to create a wedding cake for them. That person refused, citing religious principal (and because we have a free market economy), and it became a "big thing" with lawsuits, etc......

Some legitimate observations and earned critique, some not so much.

I didn't twist your curiosity in a pretzel, the mainstream media is the twister (both sides) Finding humor in the shooter's trans partner is hypocrisy, I do not claim immunity from the disease.  I was curious, as to the weapon chosen, shot placement, I would be interested in ammunition chosen, if he hand loaded.

But, I do not care why. The endless speculation and frustration regarding the why, ends in cowards calling for confiscation of firearms, because it is unanswerable, as well as, a complete waste of time. The why promotes celebrity. It is speculation and countless, meaningless, hypotheticals, designed to compel fear or patriotism or hate and increase allegiance to something. Both side do this, all corporations use this.

So, I engaged in some fact based speculation of my own. The focus was not the socioeconomic victimization of predominately overqualified whites, you made assumptions. I see the socioeconomic victimization of predominately overqualified whites, as an inevitability, but shit rolls downhill. The rich and upper class, that are not rich enough or upper class enough will fall, and in their twisted view of reality, they may believe they have it hard, but everyone is moving down a few rungs (except the top). The overqualified will take the previously high level blue collar jobs. It will continue to become more difficult to rise from the low level positions. You need an angle. You could be a genius. You could have 15 years of solid employment with the company in progressive positions. You could be part of a legally protected group. You could have an ivy league education.

If average and not part of a legally protected group, then your best chance is years of solid employment with the company, but many, most, corporations are steering away from "company men". A young, not racist white kid, who might even support affirmative action, I speculate, looking for respect and power that according to the media, entertainment and culture, is found through wealth/fame and/or guns/killing, sees years of hard work with little possibility of fame, but some wealth and instant celebrity and fame, with no wealth but no work and takes his shot.

Or everyone, myself included, is subject to their own delusions and the shooter might even feel justified. The guy on TV was talking shit and upset his "girlfriend", so he set out to kill him.

I have presented to speculations regarding the mind of the shooter, now you can attack my speculations and/or produce your own and they will be as true as mine. It is all bullshit and only serves to increase the shooters celebrity and convince the next shooter it is best to go out in a blaze of glory.

The shooter is rewarded, every time he is asked to tell "his" story, every time his name appears in a head line, when reporters fight to get the "exclusive", when a dramatized CBS tele movie is created about his life, when his family and friends are interviewed about him.

I don't know what Gryoper is and I don't care. If I were to assess blame, then I blame the ultra rich and then I blame the Communists masquerading as Socialists in America. Both are turning the screws on Americans and Thank God for the Second, because when she blows, it is better to be armed.

I appreciate your opinion here, and wouldn't attempt to change it. My opinion is mine, and it's formed through equally subjective means. I seek understanding with the scientific method, trying to see past my beliefs by using an objective anylitical process. I try, but often fail. With this vid talking about motive, I included "This is a compelling theory on Tyler Robinson's motive. It's the only thing I've heard that makes sense out of senselessness." Senseless being the catch phrase both sides use to tranquilize logical reasoning. It's unfortunate you didn't watch it, because many of your views are echoed there, and has no mention of gun control. Not saying it's righter wrong, just hoped that sharing this information might filter the media brain wash, and could help in understanding there are alternative possibilities for what happened to Kirk. Like it or not, people want to understand, but unfortunately they think their bias "news" is a source of information.

I think you'd agree that logical reasoning is a powerful weapon, and our news media has successfully disarmed our fellow Americans from the dangers of using our individual critical thinking. Because when she blows? The brain washed are calling for revolution. In all reality, our survival depends on breaking this spell. To take our country back from this predatory corporate government's support for insatiable greed, we must relearn that united we stand, and divided we fall fighting each other. Why the latter instead of punishing the perpetrator's evil? Sorry they had to learn it the hard way, but electing a billionaire politician won't make this country great again. We're getting fucked, and our violence only feeds their excuse for having greater control. In comparison we're completely outgunned to defend against such injustice. So again, our survival depends on uniting to deploy our natural American ability to find the unconventional alternative strategic possibilities to fight this David vs Goliath battle. Tune in to your brain, Turn off the news, and Drop out of their ability to control us. When it comes to politics, I hold this principle. Those in power can surcomvent, bend, and often break the rules meant to control them without consequence.  The only way to win is for us to play the game with the same disregard for rules meant to control us.

Agree Kimmel isn't that funny but what about free speech? (bad with the good) what about Trump/MAGA's ongoing attack against and silencing his worst critics? Was there a credible excuse by the shooter for what he did? or is it pieced together texts??? and interviews of people that 'knew' him?? WTF does having a trans (or w/e) girlfriend/room mate have to do with anything? What did Kimmel say that was 'offensive'? All I saw was a dig at Trump and MAGA... who hasn't done that in the past? What about the steaming piles of bullshit Trump spews??

We have freedom of speech, but the only repercussions you are exempt from is from the government.  If you say something your employer doesn't like, repercussions usually come pretty quickly.  Kimmel said publicly he was probably not going to sign again after his contract expired, and all the late night shows have been getting really low ratings.

On top of that, there has been a lot of backlash against Disney pushing the woke lesbian crap in their movies. (ie: the new Snow White)  There was a merger deal (I don't know details) but I suspect a media company would be smart not to want to have any far right or left content potentially alienating viewers on one side or another.

Edit: If you didn't know, (cause Canada) Disney is the parent company of ABC, and Kimmel's show was on ABC.

Another edit: ABC sent out memos last week telling the talk shows to dial it back.  Kimmel has always seemed to me to not one to do that, so who knows.  To me, it's really about money.  I imagine one of the larger newspapers will do the investigation, and do a fairly in depth article.  The NY Times did that with Colbert, and indeed it was ratings and loss of money.

And of course, Trump. (sarcasm font)

I agree: "logical reasoning is a powerful weapon".

I agree: "To take our country back from this predatory corporate government's support for insatiable greed, we must relearn that united we stand, and divided we fall fighting each other."

I agree: our survival depends on uniting to deploy our natural American ability to find the unconventional alternative strategic possibilities to fight this David vs Goliath battle.

I acknowledge your factual basis for this statement: "In comparison we're completely outgunned to defend against such injustice." But, disagree.
To be disarmed is to be controlled, those in power and the rich (as if in America the two are distinguishable) will not be disarmed. Unconventional warfare allowed Afghanistan to effectively resist the two biggest superpowers in the world. I concede that any resistance would be outgunned, but a resistance is historically always outgunned.

You frustrate, because you seem to understand the forces at play and the necessity to resist, but have vomited gun control statistics and support further firearm restrictions, disregarding the thousands of gun regulations currently codified. You fear your neighbor.

To be disarmed is to be controlled. I respect your right to give your life for what you believe. Stop your support of those who wish to make it easier to take mine for what I believe.  I fear my government.

I support free speech, neither watch nor appreciate Kimmel, but if he was fired for speaking out, then I would oppose it. However, it seems there is more to the story, his ratings were down, his boss ABC sent memo's to back off the political humor and he refused and he was suspended? fired? It is unclear. But, in America your boss can tell you to not talk politics at work, teachers can be fired for talking about their sexual preferences. Do I think it goes to far? Yes. Is this worse than the left trying teachers fired for using the wrong pronoun? No.

I don't like it when either side pulls this bullshit, voting Democrat will not stop this type of behavior and neither will voting Republican. Which ever party you subscribe, try to interject into the conversations around the water cooler, that "we" should be above it.

Honestly, it is hard to take "Trump as the big bad free speech squisher", when South Park spends entire hours depicting Trump as a small penis man who has gay sex with Satan and South Park remains unsued, unarrested, and unthreatened.

OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - An Opelika sign indicating the city is the hometown of former Miss America Mallory Hagan has been removed following a petition circulating.

The signs sparked controversy after Hagan posted a video making what many are calling “insensitive” comments about the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Mayor Gary Fuller said the signs have been up for years and were outdated as Hagan now lives in New York, and they have been taken down. According to him, they reserve the right to have whatever signs put up, but they want to make sure those signs represent Opelika’s values.

Hagan was crowned Miss America in 2013. At the time, she was Miss New York, but she spent her childhood in Opelika, graduating from Opelika High School. She has hate all on her face book page.

Here is what she said.Charlie Kirk, on top of being a bigot and a racist, was also selfish. He knew every single day that he went out into the public espousing the type of rhetoric and views that he did, that he was putting himself in danger, and that wasn’t enough for him to not do it in the first place. He could have chosen his wife and family.”⁷

It's disturbing that you still think I fear my neighbor, that I ever said or even suggested you or any sane American without a felony conviction should be disarmed. Enough of the NRA drama theater. You say it's foolish not to own a gun. The data you speak of showed that owning guns don't make people safer, and now you know. Anyone who doesn't like their state's gun laws can move. You know it's legal to own a pre '87 full auto gun in over 2-thirds of the US. You wouldn't be satisfied even if an 18 yr old kid could buy a  50. cal automatic before graduation.

Russians got their ass handed to them in Afghanistan, because congressman Willson and the CIA armed them to the teeth with the help of Israel and Egypt. The US war wasn't trying to annex the Afghan's country. Our involvement was thanks to Bush Jr's ill conceded temper tantrum. The Taliban didn't turn over Bin Laden, and his dim witted idea was to "intervene" in Afghanistan with the simple plan of hunting in al-Qaeda caves looking for Osama, and to overthrow the Taliban for hiding him. What could possibly go wrong? Except for getting bogged down in a clusterfuck of reoccurring resurgence mixed with a little regime change and failed nation building, everything went fine... 10 years later, Obama killed Osama in Pakistan, military operations ended 4 years later, and the phased withdraw took another 7 years.  Like clockwork. Today it would be some fat kid in the Whitehouse basement playing with 3d satellite imaging goggles, a fleet of attack drones, guided missiles, and a bag of Doritos. Your resistance would be futile against the wrath of spotty faced Tanner.

Keep in mind the US is the most litigious country in the world. Why go to another bakery when you can legally bitch about it? and there is a possible cash income from it. Free money.

Only the frightened/Paranlid would arm themselves and then try to justify it. I have the luxury of not having to live in fear having moved from an area of chaos to a more rural atmosphere. I came out here when I was 25 and fell in love with the area. Where I was from wasn't too chaotic yet but the signs were there. It wasn't planned as an escape, I always wanted to move back here and after 15 years had pushed this dream to the back of my mind... when the opportunity came up. Sold or gave away what we couldn't bring with us, bought a trailer, loaded the '79 Olds, packed three kids, dog and my wife and drove out. That was 33 years ago and every now and then I hear what it's like to live in Onterrible, I appreciate where I am.

My parents did about the same to escape economic uncertainty in Britain after WW2.

My memory is suspect, but yours is absent. I remember your support for misdemeanor firearm relinquishment, mandatory gun registration of all firearms and other bullshit gun confiscation tactics.

Domestic violence is a misdemeanor and the ACCUSATION of such is enough to have firearms taken by force. Go ahead and make snide comments about "wife beaters", in California a conviction of domestic violence is possible from words alone. But, I am neither supporting or defending wife threatening, wife beating, or child threatening, child beating, I disagree with sanction before conviction. I disagree with the loss of a Constitutional right for a misdemeanor and in a broader sense, I disagree with sentencing guidelines that demand increased penalty. Justice must be tailored to the situation, but I digress.

To own any full auto there are many forms, much time, investigations and money, beyond the insane prices of the weapons themselves, but it is of no consequence to me, I have neither the coin, the storage, nor the ability to manage the ammunition required to feed a full auto.

I have no doubt owning a gun increases the probability of someone being shot, as I have no doubt that owning a pool increases the probability of someone drowning. Life is a risk, you make your choices.

Personally, I don't mind the full auto regulations;  I don't mind that 18 year old's can't own firearms or pistols or whatever the rule; I don't need open carry, there are many rules that don't bother me at all, but I will fight every single one of them.

Because, I have dabbled in politics, been to DC, and witnessed first hand the furor and dedication of those who wish guns taken--all guns. They push rules and policies to take, some overt and some covert, but with their goal in mind. I have talked privately to political men and women who will say it to your face. "The United States will be better once we remove private gun ownership".

I don't fear the drone pilot. I try to avoid "rallies" and "marches" even when they concern an issue for which I have passion and if America has degraded to the point where I am a credible threat, warranting a the cost of a drone, then it is better if I go, at least it should be painless and a surprise.

You have expressed support for gun registration and more gun control measures under the silly term "reasonable".

Let's make a deal, aside from sanction before conviction (relinquishment of all firearms before trial) which, I hope you agree is a violation of the Constitution and the founding principles of America, you will support no additional gun regulations or laws, with the exception of laws created to address new technology. e.g. if someone invents an invisible gun, a viable pulse rife for the mass market, gauz gun for the mass market, I concede new rules will likely be necessary to address.

Then I will not support any enlargements of current regulations, I will not support the removal of the $200 tax and registration on silencers (even though I wouldn't mind having one) I will not support reduction in the regulations regarding age to purchase, pistol or rifle. I will continue to support revocation of the "assault weapons ban" because it is poorly worded and easy to be manipulated by anti-gun enforcement leading to more injustices like Patrick Adamiak.

In the great majority, I can live with the rules in place. I do not fear my neighbors firearms. In fact, I hope he or she owns an abundance and enjoys them regularly. I would not mind it at all if the biggest danger of a mass shooting event, was catching a stray bullet from one of the dozens of weapons that engaged the shooter moments after the attempt had begun.

Mr. "Reasonable", what's more reasonable that basically status quo?
