EDM620
Getting at it some more. Hadn't accounted for the thickness of the sound deadener + carpet incl underlay, so had to re-fit the rear panel. Corners will need to be re-fit as well, probably the kicks too. The 720 floor pan is definately flatter. Got some humps that carpet don't fit over very well, but at least those are under the seats so no biggie. Trans tunnel a bit oversized too. Gotta move the truck outside and rearrange my shop space. I'll have another 1/2 day over the weekend. Some days just not enough free time. 3 Quote Link to comment
EDM620
Some of the work is on hold while I wait to resupply the waterproof connectors I need, so I'm wasting time working on the front spoiler. I had already recurved the R side end and had mounted it up while I worked on the L half. I thought "hey why not use a laser and mark up the exact center from behind?" which I proceeded to set up. With the project sitting on jack stands it really doesn't give me much room to work on things underneath, so a few choice curses were thrown at my creeper, trouble light, and anything else that I could throw... Eventually I had dropped a couple of plumb bobs off the center frame bits, and queued up the laser to catch both the rearward and forward lines, so figured all is good. Marked off the R side spoiler before dropping it off to work on the L side. The L side end curve worked out better than the R did (practice makes perfect you know) and proceeded to mount that one up and mark the center line on it. Crunch time now, had to hold my breath and make the cuts. After remounting the 2 sections, I can say that the workmanship is maybe slightly better than mediocre, the fit at the bottom is good but somehow the top has a gap. Good thing I have the factory center section which has the correct bend, but now I'll have 2 joints to deal with instead of just one. Oh well, good enough. Nicely hides the bar ends though. Will be taking a break from the project for a bit, wife will be retiring soon so we're going to do a vacation while she has time to burn up. 2 Quote Link to comment
EDM620
With the "face" coming clearer, I'll soon need to commit to which style front marker lamp to go with. I've wired the truck either way so just a matter of choice. On the RHS is a repo/OE style light but with combination DRL plus signal and marker. On the LHS is a fog lamp. The OE style light is rather redundant, as the headlights have both DRL and signal within, but does look more period correct. The Fog light obviously gives me a new purpose but the look is a bit "off" other than it keeps more with the round aspect of the lights. There will be 1 or 2 round badges affixed to the grille so that may skew opinion. With the bumper mocked in place that also alters the look. Opinions? I think I figured out how to deal with the holes in the spoiler - I sliced a chunk of ABS and flattened it, it makes a pretty solid hunk of flat stock that I can use for this purpose plus a couple other unrelated issues. (no that's not the ABS) and yes, the holes are offset and angled - GM quality. Also I think I have figured out how to deal with the buck-tooth spoiler gap, by overlaying the center chunk. I think that will be better than trying to fit 3 individual pieces together. Might get another bit done tomorrow, or maybe not 🤞 1 Quote Link to comment
UnderControl
Are you stuck using what you have for lower lights or could get a set of round fogs? Or there is the option to just delete them altogether. Edited May 22 by UnderControl Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You have to have marker lights and a place for front signals. Has to be road worthy. Quote Link to comment

I would go with the oval fog lights, from both the practicality and aesthetic perspective. The OE ones make me think of a dropdown tab. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Never liked signals that were too close to the headlights. Good luck seeing them flash in the headlight glare. Keep the stock parking / turn lights, or at least keep whatever you choose in the stock location. Other driver's need to know what your intentions are. Quote Link to comment
