Drklord
Hello new friends I am completely new with L20. I bought this car about a week ago. I always had a heart for the 620 so I just bought it without any clue. It's a 73 datsun 620 with L20 "rebuild". Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
At a glance it looks like a '79-'80 L20B with the original L16 intake on it.... and a Weber carburetor of course. So.... what help do you need? Quote Link to comment
wayno
It runs like shit Mike, that is a video he posted. First I would make sure the spark plug wires are in the right order, 1, 3, 4, 2, counter clockwise on the distributor cap. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Drklord
Yeah she ain't starting. I have to double check the distributor when I get home. Do you have a picture of how it suppose to look like? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
This sounds like a simple fix missing cylinders firing plug wire fire order off lash pad fell off or rocker fell off(open valve cover) possible carb or distributor find my video on Vemio.com. Look under Hainz Datsun. Watch it before shaming yourself before asking to many ? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Have you done ANYTHING to it? New distributor cap? move the wires around? Was it running when you bought it? 1 Quote Link to comment

Was it running when you bought The person who I bought it from said he drove it the day I bought the car. The only thing I have done is clean the spark plugs which was wet. I also attempt to clean the carburetor. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If you had all the plugs out perhaps the wires went back on wrong 1, 3, 4, 2 in a counter clockwise direction on the distributor cap. 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Drklord was this running good when you drove it home?? maybe the plugs fouled out try new ones first and if run good for awhile then goes bad .I would say the carb is flooding it out spark plugs. what does clean the carb mean? another thing I see is the choke flap closed solid.I can’t tell if this is a manual choke or electric and or you have a cut off selinoid on the carb Edited March 27, 2020 by banzai510(hainz) 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yeah have someone hold the choke open while you try to start it..... and lean away as it will likely backfire till cleaned out. 1 Quote Link to comment
