Payco
One of the wing mounted mirrors on my newly arrived Coupe is a little loose. The other side is fine. Feels like there maybe two bolts attaching it and one is loose or missing. Assuming if I remove the front wheel I can access it through the wheel arch. Is my thinking right ?. datzenmike
I would think so. It's spring loaded, is it not? So it can absorb a hit but not bend the 'wing'? 1 Quote Link to comment
carterb
They are spring loaded. There is a nut accessible from the wheel-well. You can try tightening the nut to increase the preload against the spring. Be careful though, that part of the mirror assembly is exposed to the elements and can corrode badly so an attempt to tighten the nut may result in snapping off the bolt. If it doesn't turn easily, I don't recommend forcing it. 1 Quote Link to comment
carterb
Here you can see what the parts look like Use caution if your studs look like this: One other thought, if you are missing the black plastic base the mirror sits on (for instance, if it broke and went missing) that would reduce the preload. 1 Quote Link to comment
Payco
Black plastic plate is still in place so will have a look underneath. Thanks for the photos etc. Quote Link to comment
