I just figured I'd do a follow-up in case someone else runs into a similar issue, I'd recommend following the Chilton/Haynes manual's advice of coating the side-seals with RTV rather than with engine oil as recommended in the "How to rebuild" book. Back then I would not have used RTV, because most of it would not stand up to oil, but now days, yeah. Thanks for the update. FYI - it may be worth while to go back and retorque the pan bolts after a few hundred miles. Check them periodically too. Quote Link to comment
