troyt
My 710 is a race car, I’m trying to locate the underhood VIN chassis stamps, maybe I’ve got some add-on parts located over them. So where do I need to look? And where does the thin metal square tag go that has the VIN stamped on it originally go? Mine is loose and came in the logbook. Thanks Quote Link to comment
KELMO
The VIN is usually stamped into the sheet metal of the firewall just below where the wipers are. On my 1200's and 510's this is the case. If you were to open the hood and look at the back of the engine bay you would be able to see it. Hopefully someone with a 710 will come along and answer this. The metal tag varies in location but also locates in the engine compartment. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The 'engine plate' on mine is screwed (4) to the cowl or top of the fire wall directly above and behind the valve cover. The car number is stamped into the cowl metal just to the left of it as viewed from the front. Mine says WHL 710 XXXXX the W is for wagon otherwise HL710. Quote Link to comment
