bottomwatcher
So here we go. Restored boat ready to sail. A datsun sized tow, even then I couldn't see it underway but thankful for the back up camera and switch that allows me to watch it. The launch and first sail was a success. The leaks were manageable with a sponge which is a win in my book. 3 Quote Link to comment

bottomwatcher
Well I finally got back to Maine. This is today liberating it from the garage along with its German cousin. Both fired right up and got a proper rip session in. 2 Quote Link to comment

bottomwatcher
Well today I finally put a hitch in the receiver I welded into my brush bar years ago. A buddy raved about moving trailers with the hitch mounted to the front of the truck so I put one in mine and never used it. Today I needed to put a trailer in my shop that clearance wise almosed needed grease to clear the garage door opening. So I finally decided to try the front hitch method. After about a 32 second learning curve I am now living in a whole new world! Holy crap! I am a dumbass for waiting so long! Love this mod and put it at even with the backup camera over the hitch for trailer life improvements. Now I sound like my buddy. Unfortunately pic is too big to attach. 5 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I have a hole in the tractor bucket for a trailer hitch ball, and I'd like to put one in the forklift fork, but I don't want to weaken it. (I've heard of them breaking) 1 Quote Link to comment
DuallyDatsun
I never thought of putting a hitch on the front, but that is such a genius idea. Thanks for sharing! 1 Quote Link to comment

bottomwatcher
Well she is still rolling. Been working her pretty hard and the KAE and C series trans is going strong. Decided to clean her up, throw some kayaks on the top and hit the owlshead foriegn car show. Cool venue no pretentiousness of cars and if it ain't foriegn or a car everyone is welcome. I have gravitated towards the antique lawn tractor section lately. Anyways after the show a nice kayak paddle along the coast at Tenant's Harbor a quaint coastal town weaving among the rocks and lobster boats. Then off to a local brewery overlooking Maines rocky coast. Life is good. 2 Quote Link to comment

bottomwatcher
Been a while. Enjoying the truck and she has been rolling trouble free. It's the time of year we close up our house in Maine and head to Fl. The Datsun hibernates in the shop over the winter but before she goes away I slip in a few mini road trips before parking it for the winter. Today was a one hour loop from the house through backwoods Maine. Just passing a collection of small farms and homes in the woods. The leaves have changed and it is just a pleasant drive. At the halfway point and my destination is a general store that hasn't changed in 50 years. You can pump your gas first before paying and I think the pumps are older than the Datsun. The breakfast sandwiches are fresh with real ingredients unlike that crap at the circle k and the folks are friendly. Going to miss this. Florida weather is good but chock full of assholes. Unfortunately I am a pussy and can't take the Maine cold. Looking forward to spring when I get the 720 back on the road. One more road trip tomorrow then the datsun hibernation begins. 1 Quote Link to comment

I actually bought it brand new from leer probably around 1996. It fits great except the 720 has a slight slope at the back of the cab that makes the gap at the top a little wide. 1 Quote Link to comment
