Scrapson Posted September 20, 2019 Report Share Posted September 20, 2019 I have 79 datsun 620 it has a different motor in it because the block stamp and the body don’t match up. I believe it is a 79 motor but I’m not 100% sure I do know it is a 2.0liter. I can’t tell if the engine and trans are the same but I assume not. Here is the vin on the block but mine is different HLG620314824 block Any help or if your vin happens to match my motor I think it would interesting Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted September 20, 2019 Report Share Posted September 20, 2019 After 40 years lots of engines got changed around to keep them on the road. If you have a W58 head on it then the engine is a '78-'80. If U67 then '75-'77. It really doesn't matter much as all L20Bs are basically the same, car or truck. Small mods or changes to the carburetors or emissions systems between years is about it. If the engine was swapped it does not follow that the transmission was also changed... probably not.
