TimGreen
I am building a new race motor for my Datsun B210 ChumpCar. I am using a Datsun A15 block, crank and rods with a H79 head. We plan to overbore as large as possible – depending on what high compression pistons can be found. If you have any recommendations please help me. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What is the pin height.. center of pin to top of piston? What is the pin diameter? What piston dish (in cc's) does the A15 use? What volume is the A15 combustion chamber? Quote Link to comment
TimGreen
Wow, I don't have any answers and the original pistons are with the block at the machine shop. They are waiting on my being able to tell them the maximum bore they can do but first I have to find a high compression piston that is oversized for the A15 block. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Well there are lots of Nissan pistons but any with a larger pin height will hit the under side of the head. Too short and the compression will be so low it would be useless. If the pin diameter of the A series is different from the L, Z, VG and KA then none of them will work. Find out what you have and look through a piston catalogue. You might find that an 1800 MG engine has a larger piston that will work. Quote Link to comment
