TimmyG
Is this a factory oil pan for 4wd 720? I'm not familiar with them. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Yes because of the front diff. Quote Link to comment
TimmyG
Just now, Charlie69 said: Yes because of the front diff. Thanks. That makes sense. I bought the truck with the engine sitting in the bed, so never seen it in the engine bay yet. 1 Quote Link to comment

TimmyG
Should have said it's an 84 with z24 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
It does not matter L or Z as the 2wd and the 4 wd pans for both series engines are different because of the front diff. Edited August 22, 2019 by Charlie69 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If Z24 then it matters that you have the Z series oil pan if 4x4. The picture I posted is for the '80 4x4 which had an L series engine. This looks like the right side of a Z series engine, bulge on the right. This is the front on an L series 4x4 oil pan, bulge on the left. 2wd pans are all more or less the same for all Z series. The L series is similar but leans about 18 degrees to the right side at the top. See above picture. Quote Link to comment
