datzenmike
There were 210 stock L16 heads, A87 L18 heads and U67 and W58 heads (sometimes the odd A87) on the L20B. Anything else showed up in the mix from used import engines in the '70 and '80s. Quote Link to comment

Otherwise I'll eventually get off my duff and build a 1600cc A-series motor. In the meantime I've been redoing the engine cowl/tail section on my 87 Novakar Formula 500..........so I'm not completely lazy. Tom, if you want some L16 engines, I have various blocks, cranks, etc. Even a couple heads I could part with. Some might even be performance builds already. Most came from ITC 510 cars. I got a pile of these with a car I bought last year, and I plan to use only one of them. I am in Michigan, so not close-but perhaps deals could be worked. Is there a private message option on Ratsun? I don't see it right off and I have never used it. If there is, you can send me something there if interested. Otherwise reply here if you want. Quote Link to comment

This was the late 60s early 70s when engine power was posted in gross HP. I think about 85HP would be more meaningful. * has to have flattops for the closed chamber head to work and raise the compression. A closed chamber head on a stock L16 produces an 8.21 compression. An open chamber head is well down into the 7.7 range. You have been all over the place with compression numbers for a while now, you told me that with a Z20s block with flat top pistons and my closed chamber W53 head I was at 10.8, above you say 9.29, this confuses me. The 9.29 compression was for the L16SSS mentioned by Tom1200 in the post above mine. An L20B or Z20 (with 25% more displacement) flattops and a closed chamber head would be close to 10.7 Quote Link to comment
