TimmyG
1983 model 720 king cab. Not sure if original engine. I'm thinking this is a z24. Also not sure if they put the z22 in the early 1983 at all? 1 Quote Link to comment
weldingrod
No way to tell from that picture. I have an 84 720 4x4 with the 22 engine but I know that because I put it in. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Valve covers can be swapped. Look between the two pair of exhaust manifolds, between plug 2 and 3, down just below the aluminum head. The block will have a flat boss with the engine size stamped on it. The Model year begins in June of the previous year so half of the '83 trucks were built in late '82. The Z24 was introduced in November of '82 which is an '83 model year. From June to November the Z22 was still in use so there are '83 trucks with Z22 engines in them. The Z22 was used in the 4x4 through November and switched to the Z24 for December. 3 Quote Link to comment
