Best engine for weight/power ratio in 620

Hello. First post here!

 

i was just curious as to what the best engine for a 1974 Datsun would be that wouldn’t require cutting out half the firewall or relocating every thing as needed. I know it will obviously take some work but I don’t know Nissan motors all that well and would like some input. Thank you!

Four and V6 engines won't need cutting to fit.

With what Mike says in mind,  VQ35 is likely a very good option for what you desire.  But downside is that the 6 speed trans is rather large so it could cause different fitment issues.

 

Budget also effects this question.  A small turbo motor can make huge power while keeping weight down, but you have to invest way more money in the motor to build big power.

I would do an FJ20 but I did not say I was smart, you just asked about a good engine power to weight ratio.lol
