Fuel pump differences

Recommended Posts

Is there a difference between fuel pumps for L16, L18, L20B?

I have a 510 with a W53 head and L20B block.

I ordered a fuel pump for a 510 not thinking this through.

The arm on the fuel pump I got has an actuation arm the seems too short, or curved up too sharply.

Is it bent?  Or just plain wrong?

Thanks in advance!

L16/18 are the same but the L20B is different and I think has very slightly larger body. They will all interchange in that physically they are the same. L six cylinder pumps totally won't work.

The '80 720 uses an L20B and again the pump is a different part number but should swap with other L series four cylinders.

The early 720 Z22 engine also has a mechanical pump but it's physically much larger again than the L series. It should also fit the earlier L series but the in and out fitting may be clocked wrong.

All the drive eccentrics on the cam sprocket are the same so all the arms should be the same. All L heads have the same mounting studs.

If you have an after market pump you're on your own. It might fit several other engines and not look at all like a factory pump..
