Greaser2
My 521 has an electric pump under the hood. Want to move it near the tank or just go back to stock. Plan on doing Weber’s. What do u guys recommend? 1 Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
In case you don't know.....do a bit of research, or maybe someone will chime in. The weber's don't like much fuel pressure so it's common to put a regulator inline before the carb. 1 Quote Link to comment

It’s doable either way but looking for an opinion that isn’t 5 years old. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If it works fine right now it will work just fine if you move it to the rear... or leave it. It may be quieter if moved outside. Liquid pumps can be made to push almost any pressure but they suck at sucking because they are limited by atmospheric pressure of 14.7 PSI. No pump made can suck up hill over about 30 feet so the lower the pump is to the fuel tank the easier it is for it to work. Mechanical pumps are almost level with the carburetor but have unlimited power to run them and are not going to over heat. 2 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Stock mechanical pumps are very hard to find now, or very expensive. I recently put an aftermarket mechanical on mine and it seems to be working okay. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I've never had a mechanical L series pump fail or give any problems. If I ever did need one all I have to do is cut the back yard. 2 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Hahaha. My last one blew the lower diaphragm, and I couldn’t find a rebuild kit. 1 Quote Link to comment

Greaser2
I went ahead and removed the electric fuel pump and put in a new mechanical fuel pump. The stock mech was shot. Truck doesn’t know the difference. 2 Quote Link to comment
