L16 Flex Plate

Recommended Posts

That will have to be posted here... https://ratsun.net/classifieds/category/9-datsun-parts/  ... You might mention that it's for the 3N71B automatic. I don't think the earlier, up to April '71, Borg Warner 35 flex plates will be the same.

Do you have an automatic 510 or are you looking to use the flexplate in a race car with something like a QuarterMaster clutch set up?  If an auto car.....what Mike said above!  If a race car, I think either flexplate will work, might have to figure out a mod with the starter..........

It’s for a race car. A flex plate with 120 teeth and 12” diameter will work fine with button flywheel.

I'll poke around, but the L16 flex plates are NLS NLA & many USED are damaged with broken factory welds and/or worn out teeth!

You used to be able to still buy the starter ring gear. It would be the same for any vehicle using the 71C transmission. The 510 ring was last used on the D21 and WD21 with the Z24i engine but KA flywheels will swap and work, so all KA24E and DE starter rings should work. The KA ring is also used on the VG30 so add them as well.

Now cut out a plate and weld it on yourself.
