so ive been doing a bit of research and also puloled my engine apart today and noticed the owner before me had done headgasket replacement, but the problem is that it blocked the intake side of coolant flow. looked aroud for a new one and they do the same thing. so now im the question of wtf actually goes on here to let everything flow like it is suppose to cause the ones I see are

and those are blocking the intake ports. on the other hand these https://www.partsgeek.com/hydyklp-nissan-720-head-gasket.html?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=ff&utm_content=MP&utm_campaign=PartsGeek+Bing&gb=pp&utm_term=1980+nissan+720+head+gasket+felpro+80+nissan+head+gasket&ad=11620898113 don't block the intake coolant side. which one is suppose to go on?

OK first you need to know and tell us the engine size on your '84 truck. Find the credit card sized engine tag riveted to the passenger side inner fender below the hood hinge.

See where it says ENGINE/MOTOR? Just to the right yours will say either Z20 1951cc or Z24 2389cc

If you have the 2 liter  Z20 engine then the first link gasket is correct for your engine. If you have the Z24 then it is not.

The second link you posted is for the one year only 1980 L20B engine which is totally different from either the Z20 or the Z24 which were produced from '83 on..

it is a z24 2.4 liter and that piece is gone since the owner before me ripped a bunch of important info out

Well to be sure check between the two exhaust pipes on the top edge of the block. The displacement is stamped there...

If for sure Z24, then neither of those gaskets are made for it.

just like on the side of your block mine says a z24 and then another # like that

There are often coolant ports blocked in parts of the engine head gaskets.  This forces the coolant to travel the whole length of the engine.  If you have a z24 head gasket and you have visually matched it to multiple photos of the same part, you have the correct part

You want a Z24 head gasket. Here's why.... the Z24 holes are 89mm across and entirely clamped between the head and the block and run cooler there. The Z20 holes are only 85mm. The smaller Z20 gasket will protrude into the combustion chamber and what will happen is the edge will become over heated and cause pre ignition and the hot corrosive gasses will erode it away and it will fail.

ight, thanks I just wanted to have the correct one to make sure those were suppose to be plugged up on the intake side.

ight, it just seemed a little bit weird since it was plugged up on one side

Just to be absolutely clear this gasket is NOT the one you want.

You want this one...

Just because there is a coolant hole in the gasket does not necessarily mean there is a coolant hole on both the head and the block sides.
