Tiger03447
Someone here on the forum was asking about the availability of an L16 head. I checked mine, and it's a complete head (less cam and rockers). I will be willing to sell it. It's in good shape and has been sitting on a 2X6 for several years. It's a W-58 head. Make me an offer. Thanks. Tiger 03447 Quote Link to comment
yenpit
FYI the W58 is an L20B head, but it will bolt up to an L16. W58 is big port, big valve, but has the later emission steel pre-heat tubes in the exhaust ports. On a street engine, it is just fine! Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Just now, yenpit said: FYI the W58 is an L20B head, but it will bolt up to an L16. Yes but it will lower the compression also.... it's has a 7cc larger combustion chamber then the stock l16 head.... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
L16..... 210 head................................ 38cc combustion chambers................. 8.58 compression L18..... A87 head .............................. 45.2cc open combustion chamber...... 8.43 compression L18..... A87 head .............................. 41cc closed combustion chamber*..... 9.00 compression L20B... A87 (rare) U67 or W58 ......... 45.2cc open combustion chamber....... 8.4 compression L20B... A87 (rare) or W58 ................ 41cc closed combustion chamber*....... 8.9 compression * closed chamber heads are most likely replacements from imported JDM engines. No way Nissan would have slipped higher compression engines in randomly with emission standards so rigorously enforced. It would make no sense at all. A 45.2 cc head on an L16 reduces the compression to 7.72.... ridiculously low. A 41cc closed chamber head on an L16 still reduces the compression to 8.21. L16SSS uses flattop pistons for a 9.29 compression. Quote Link to comment
