7twentyguy
I’m looking at swapping my front bumper on my 85 KC ST to a yota bumper. I’ve seen photos of it, has anyone in the last 20 years done it? I picked up a1990 bumper & valance along with factory yota mounts. I know I’ll be doing some cutting & fab work, any insight would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Insight? Buy a bumper and hold it up to the Nissan front end. Should be pretty straightforward. You may be able to mix and match Nissan and Toyota components to get enough parts to not have to fabricate brackets. Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
This is a stock style bumper or aftermarket? Toyota had so much more offered for aftermarket stuff that with some welding would fit. I am running a chevy s10 frame hitch on my 720. Two holes actually lined up perfectly. The mini trucks of that era had similar frame and body widths and they seemed to grow at the same rate between brands. 88 and older toyota would be a good match for the 720s. 89 they got a little wider. Let's see some pics to see how this turns out Quote Link to comment
Madkaw
Need a bumper swapping thread. I was thinking if possible rear bumper swaps for my 83 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I put '62 Chevy II bumpers on my 710 to get rid of those hideous park bench 5MPH 'bumpers'. Had to section two 3" sections out and weld together Had to make 5 slicesclose the gaps and weld to get the curve just right. 2 Quote Link to comment
Madkaw
Nice job! Like to do something like that for the 720. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
LOL I had no idea what to do I just jumped in and did it. There wasn't very much on line about sectioning a bumper. The rear one was too tall or dung down too low so I slit it lengthwise to thin it. The stock 5 MPH bumpers are the worst looking things ever. Quote Link to comment
