Hey buddies!

I have a problem with my Datsun 160j, aka Violet. ❤️

Since a half year, it consume a lot fuel. I very tired. I tried driving slow and don't work. I paying a specialist to rebuild the carb and the fuel consume is the same.
But, an a one week ago, tired I remember what i have a two carbs and i decided to reemplace a main jet, main air...  But the car is very slow.

Today, i decided a change a pieces, some wear and old. But when i start the car, in "low" pass much fuel, on high works fine. And sounds better ?

But tried to economice fuel ?. And tried to recovery the same config but on low seems like he's drowning and don't work ?

I listed a main jet's, main air i have, to see if you guys can a help me decide where each of the pieces in my carburetor goes. ?

I live in Mexico's City, on a 2200 meters above sea level.

My Carb (up)

My Carb (down)

Jets  The last jet's, they go in the part below.

It's very easy to get the secondary jet in the primary side. The primary jet is always smaller than the secondary. For example, something like 99 and 160... well at sea level.

At over 7200 feet the jets should definitely be smaller because the air pressure is lower and the engine will run very rich.

Is your choke turning off when warmed up?

don't have a electric choke. ?

So, do you recommend a jet's like these (in order of my pic)
Primary | Secondary

46|48
60 w/5 holes | 60 w/3 holes
120 | 200
80 | 90

Sorry I don't know a names of the Jet's. ?

The primary jets go in these holes under the fuel bowl. Generally the primary (top one) is around 100 and the secondary (bottom) about 150.

So is this the original carburetor? Doesn't look like it.

What engine and what size do you have in your 710?

Keep in mind, that other things play into fuel delivery.

If it had been running fine, then started to run rich, my bet would be on the inlet needle % seat, and float level.

Do you have a new inlet needle & seat ?

Have you set the float level to factory specifications ?

It's done, buddies.
Today trying with one config, start the engine and i can use to the around the 16 millages.

In the main jet (down) used the config 80 | 98 but, to press the accelerate the car is goes off.

So, i used 98 | 130. And works finally.

Thank you very much for the information and the time for explain me. Now I understand better the operation of the carb.
