bottomwatcher
DId a KAe swap a couple years ago and the temp gauge has read low ever since. The engine boiled over while the gauge was still in the good zone so obviously it is inaccurate. 1 new radiator and the gauge sits solidly just above the cold mark. I tested the thermostat with a thermometer and it opens right at 180 so I know the engine is running the right temp. I found the ohms readings for the kae sender and testing it seems to be in the range I am looking for. I can't find the resistance for the Napsz sender so before I buy a new sender to have the same issue. Has anyone dealt with this before? I also grounded the gauge and goes full to hot like it should so it should be good. Thanks for any input. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You should have included this information on the other post about the same thing. If you say '85 720 it would be assumed that it is a Z24 engine. An engine swap is valuable information when chasing an over heating problem. The Z24 rad may simply be too small for a higher output KA. I have interchanged the 620 and 720 gauges and senders and they read the same. Don't know about the KA but I would just put a Z24 sender in the KA. Or replace the KA sender, it may be bad. Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Yep that was already someone else's thread didn't want to rob it. My question here was specific to the difference between the ka sender to naps z sender. I can find the resistance values for the ka but nothing on the naps even after searching the web and checking my fsm. I did try the ground as you recomended and the gauge pegged. I got rid of my naps and I don't know if the naps sender will screw into the ka24e. I kind of remember they were different looking. I was looking for someone who has information on the resistance of the naps or has solved this problem before. I want the temp gauge to be accurate. Sorry for any confusion. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
My mistake... and corrected. Try a new sender if the Z24 one won't fit. Quote Link to comment
