datzenmike
What's the best method for removing? Scrape? (don't want to scratch the aluminum head) Solvent? Steel wool? I fucked up and had to remove the head. The copper coat did not stick to the head gasket whatever, so it is like new with slight imprint. The spray stayed on the head and the block. The engine was never started so maybe this is why. Anyway I think I should remove what's on there now, and re spray when I put together. Quote Link to comment
edekalil
Well I would be very carful and use a new single edge razor blade in a holder to clean a little bit at a time. Just don’t be impatient. Then maybe use a solvent to wipe down and clean the serface. Edited October 7, 2018 by edekalil Quote Link to comment
john510
It should come right off with acetone and a rag. 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Light scrape. Nail polish remover. Check. The engine hasn't been started but I thought it would have 'glued' to the gasket... it didn't. It did squish and leave rings around openings and the metal fire rings. I also sprayed the block and the head rather than both sides of the gasket. It's messier but if acetone removes it I can now just clean it up. Thanks Ed and John. Quote Link to comment
john510
Nail polish remover is probably diluted compared to straight acetone. Also more expensive. 1 Quote Link to comment
