Replacing weather strip on 620 doors.

Recommended Posts

First post for me :) The wide weather strip along the inner edge of my doors are broken / shrunk and need to be replaced. My idea is to find a new roll of this stuff (hopefully not to expensive, since i've never seen anything like it before) and put some thinner strips on the door jamb so that it not only stops the water but also the wind.
Even with my door shut completely, there was about a 1/8" gap between the strip and the jamb, which I imagine is going to be a little noisy (I've yet to have the truck plated and ready to run down the highway, but it's almost there).

What have you guys done for this situation? Any constructive ideas are welcome.

You can get new seals on ebay for not too much.

As far as the gap, new seals will help with that.

Yep, pretty typical.

If you open your pic in another window you can copy and paste the image into the text window. :)

Also available from Rockauto $61.79 (pair - both doors)

I think that all years 620 use the same door seal - but I'm not positive on that.
This is what I used on my '79...

I need to replace the frontshield weatherstrip. Are you happy with the rockauto product ?

Price is interesting even with the shipping rate to France ($24). It's cheaper than a shop I've found in Portugal.

Meh. It works, but I will need to glue it. It's not the stiff and slightly thicker type like the OEM is. So it doesn't like to stay put, especially when you roll the window down about half way, it will pull loose. If I fight it and glue it here and there (weather permitting at this frigging point) it would probably be adequate.

I must confess though I didn't buy RockAuto, I bought from Amazon, for $32.89 or something. It was half price, and probably half as good, but on a budget and in the hands of a handyman, it's no problem.

The door weather strip I received from rock auto worked great. They say: "  Exact Fit; With Clips and Mitered Ends" and that what I got. The top of the '79 door has channels that hold the rubber around the window frame.  The lower parts of the door uses little plastic clips that hold the rubber in place.  I never needed to use any glue.

I payed $35-ish for mine but that might have just been for one side, can't remember now. I doubt it though, but been too busy and it's been too wet to do a dang thing on my 620... However, as of 2 days ago, I bought a donor 720 4x4 so it will become a 4x4 620. 😉 56990419_2074437396007340_50027333503900
