Strut insert ??

What's up fellas.

I am currently running 280zx front inserts.On my 70 510,and it keeps bottoming out .any ideas ,which inserts will give  better riding experience s.thanks

ZX inserts in stock 510 struts??? They are too short... did you stack washers under them? to make up the difference??

 

Bottoming out is from being too low and/or too soft a spring. What springs?

If there was a space under the insert did you stack washers under it? Most inserts are generic (one size fits others) and are a tad short.

The stock 510 coil is around 90 lb/in which is fine at stock height but if lowering you risk hitting things so it's advised to increase the spring rate. Lower = stiffer. I think most 510s that are lowered are in the 200 lb/in and over and in extreme cases 300.

 

 

 

What about the rear? How did you lower it. What springs did you swap in.

I really dont think your bottoming out. If you have coil overs one can adjust to raisse the lower collar spring seat.

 

most coil over have at least a 180 spring in there that I have seen. Might have less travel if ones uses a 7in spring as most are 8in.

 

I just dont drive on rought roads and hit steel plates at road cnstruction sites at over 35mph
