Twomoons
I have three A 15 powered cars. Two of them have 60 series gearboxes and one has a 63 series gearbox, which is not finished yet. What am I giving up by using the 63 series box, other than the different dog leg shift pattern and heavier weight? Are the 63's as good as the 60's? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
In other boxes the number is the distance in mm between the mainshaft and the countershaft. This distance limits the diameter of the gears used and thus the size and strength of the teeth. In this case bigger is better. The 60 series used on the A series engine came in two 'flavors'. There was an FS5W60L dogleg (used through '79) and from '80 on was an FS5W60A with a regular H shift pattern. Quote Link to comment
