I think they were the first to introduce seat belts in the mid 50s? looks a lot like a 1958-60 T-bird interior. Lee Iacocca was the driving force behind Ford's 1956 safety campaign pushing seat belts and padded dashes (for extra $$$). The campaign flopped and put Iacocca in the dog jhouse until he redeemed himself with the Mustang in April of 1964.He lost a bit more luster (at least with the American public) when it was learned he made the call to to let Pinto hatchbacks with defective gas tank fillers roll out the door because he figured, correctly, that recall repairs would be much more expensive than whatever monies customers might recoup against FoMoCo in lawsuits. He worked at Ford with Robert McNamara who was the brains behind the Edsel and the Vietnam war. 2 Quote Link to post
