Sunrader720 Posted June 29, 2018 Report Share Posted June 29, 2018 I have an '84 Garner Pacific Sunrader with a 2wd 5 speed 720 body that I am restoring. It is the shortie 18ft model. I just picked up an '84 kingcab 4x4 parts truck. Since I have the 4x4 on hand, would it be worth considering doing a swap? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted June 29, 2018 Report Share Posted June 29, 2018 Are the wheelbases the same? A king cab is a long wheelbase. The camper has to fit the rear wheel opening and may sit too far back with a gap behind the 2wd cab. Or will you keep the 4x4 cab? The gearing is different on the 4x4 in high range. You have 4.375 and it is 3.889 making highway driving up hills and into the wind with a camper a little harder. (not impossible) You can use 4x4 for low speed parking and what not if needed. 1 Quote Link to comment
