In my opinion it should be left unlocked till after the event replacing it, my thinking is that some that go to Canby do not even come to Ratsun until May when they start checking this thread and the DatsunNW thread, since so little was published about Canby being cancelled until recently, these folks will know what is going on with this thread if it is not locked, it will end up 5 pages buried if locked and likely the DatsunsNW thread will end up buried anyway.

OP isnt actually connected to the event and still has to request the lock. It's in the rules

godVIAGRA started a thread in 2009, made one post in it and was promptly banned.  There are currently 1029 pages and still going strong. Here's the last post in it...

 

 

A thread ultimately is closed or left open at the discretion of the moderators. Some threads are just too full of juicy information to get rid of. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. If an OP requests closure it will be taken into account and possibly the needs of the few will outweigh the needs of the many.

nothing personal here the demise of canby lies on the people putting it on 

datsun northwest ran a great show for many years but when the people who were doing all the work had enough 

the shoes they left empty were to big for there followers to fill 

it was great ending on a high note with Peter Brock and John Morton coming 

this may also have had some effect on the show ending as I am sure it cost a bit to bring them there 

alot of the people from Oregon ,Washington ,Idaho, and Canada,  area might not have had the chance to meet them otherwise

Totally right! Thank you Dave Bothwell. After Dave left there was a political vacuum filled by the winning incompetent. Christ that pisses me off. Canby struggled on for a few more years in spite of this, solely of the strength of the Canby followers who loved it so much. Yes it's personal.

what more is a show than a bunch of guys with similar interest getting together to enjoy that interest? do the details of the changes make that much of a difference in the end so long as we all can get together with people we rarely get to see except at events like this? Its always great to see the cars in person that we enjoy seeing come together or get enjoyed online. pictures are cool but theres nothing like seeing them in person and hearing about the owners journey along the way. hang out bullshit share stories eat some bbq trade parts score that part you have been wanting and last but not least DRIVE YOUR DATSUN to it!

  meeting the legends was great but not the motivation for me to go. we all have our reasons to go but fun should be the biggest common reason we still go to events.
