Farmer Carbbed his KA. that would be interesting, but my reasons for ka is one the truck didn't have a motor to begin with and two to get away from carb. :) 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Can you run the stock KA24DE pump? Do you have the DE fuel tank? If so, cut out the pump module and mounting flange, weld it into the tank you're going to use, and have the pump, sender, EVAP, etc that was intended for the motor. If not, then use a Tanks INC PA series module. In tank pumps are always best. They run quieter, cooler and last longer. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
I am running the walboro on my ka24e and it works fine but sure is loud. I am half ass keeping an eye out for a hardbody tank and pump. The in tank would be the way to go. 1 Quote Link to comment
tgaydos
i'm not real worried about it being loud, just need something to get this pig running. 1 Quote Link to comment
tgaydos
i guess i was asking more specifically what psi fuel pump is needed/recommended. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
There is or should be a regulater on the return line. I am running the walboro 255 works fine, need the check the authenticity of the pump. Apperrently there are a lot of Chinese knock offs put there. I purchased mine from a seller that advertised his were not chinese, seems. Ok. 1 Quote Link to comment

tgaydos
does anyone know where i could find some 720 motor mounts for a 2wd from 1985? i need the truck side mounts and am having a hell of a time finding any. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Do you need the part that's welded to the frame? Mounting the Z24 or single cam ka 1 Quote Link to comment
tgaydos
got the mounts and the motor is in, mostly wired up on the engine side now to figure out the interior wiring, and plumbing for fuel and cooling, transmission and a few other odds and ends hopefully it'll be driving in a couple months. 2 Quote Link to comment
tgaydos
even with the write up by icehouse i am having a difficult time understanding the wiring on the ecu side of things. it seems the more i read it the more confused i get. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
It's painfully slow but deal with only one wire at a time. All the different color codes gets confusing. Beer is not your friend during this stage of the swap. Bolting the engine in is the easiest part of the swap. Stick with it. Good luck. 2 Quote Link to comment
tgaydos
bolting it in really is the easy part which i figured it would be, going to give wiring a break for a bit and deal with the fuel plumbing as my next task. Hopefully by then it'll start making more sense to me. 1 Quote Link to comment
tgaydos
got the transmission almost ready to go in, last few things are fuel lines, wiring, cluster and radiator. cluster aside i should have it running and driving very very soon. It's been a long time coming and i can't wait. Quote Link to comment

tgaydos
got the transmission mostly in today, I don't think it's lined up properly however as there's still about a half inch gap all the way around. I figured I'd give it a break for awhile as I was getting tired and frustrated and didn't want to drop the trans on myself. Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
some folks put the motor and trans in as a unit, makes bolting the trans in easier. Although I have never done this myself. What I did do that I think made my ka swap a little easier was cut the flange off a trans to mount a starter and a quick wood cradle so I could start the engine out of the truck. This allowed me to kind of sprawl the engine harness and allowed full access around the engine. Handy when I realized when installing the oil pump I was 180 out. I took my time working out the bugs and I knew I had a running engine before install. Just an idea and good luck. Quote Link to comment
